Wollastonite

Wollastonite

Chemical Name: Calcium Silicate (CaSiO3)

Wollastonite is a naturally occurring white mineral, with hardness of 4 to 5 Mho. Wollastonite is alkaline, inert, has low loss on ignition, low water solubility.  It also improves tear strength, dielectric properties and retains mechanical properties at elevated temperatures.
Chemical/Typical composition

SiO2 46.5%
CaO 45.5%
MgO 0.88%
Fe2O3 0.78%
Al2O3 0.75%
Specific Gravity 2.8
Hardness 4 to 5 Mho

Industrial Applications

  1. The single largest use of wollastonite is in the ceramics industry where it is used as a principal ingredient in the ceramic bodies required for the manufacture of floor and wall tiles.
  2. It is used as a filller in paint and paper and many other products.
  3. In metallurgy, it is used as a welding rod coating, to control the viscosity of the slag and alloying agents.

We offer Wollastonite Powder as per specification.
